Helitech International and EHA partnership: Statement on the future of the event

The organisers of Helitech International have announced that this year’s event in Amsterdam will be the last run in partnership with the European Helicopter Association (EHA). The event, which has been run under Reed management for more than a decade, will also transition to a new identity as Vertical Flight Expo & Conference – formerly Helitech International. The event, which will run under both brands during the transition, will continue to deliver value and keep pace with the evolving rotorcraft industry.

Speaking about the announcement, Teresa Heitor, Exhibition Manager said:

“We have been in discussions with the EHA for many months and it is clear that both parties have a different vision for the future of the brand. As such, we have mutually decided that Reed Exhibitions will be solely responsible for the management of the event from 2019 onwards as we look to broaden the remit of the show with a focus on providing an accessible venue that offers more demonstration opportunities, an enhanced technology showcase and a focus on increasing operator attendance.

We have also announced that, as the doors close on this year’s event, Helitech International will assume a new identity as Vertical Flight Expo & Conference – formerly Helitech International and in 2019 will move to Farnborough International’s recently launched permanent structure for exhibitions.

This decision follows extensive consultation with the show’s key stakeholders as well as an assessment of suitable venues across Europe. The success of this year’s event in Amsterdam demonstrates the value the show offers to the industry.

For example, the introduction of new features at this year’s show has cemented our commitment to providing value to our exhibitors and visitors. Our conference programme has been drawing in the crowds every day – with many sessions oversubscribed – while Helitech Connect has enabled us to facilitate and build more than 500 new industry relationships.

Unique visitor numbers have increased by 50%, while 30% of all attendees were operators – three times more than the last Amsterdam edition. In addition, the ability to land at the venue has been a key benefit and as a result of the success experienced in 2018, we have no plans to change the 2020 venue but will continue to consult the industry as we look to deliver an event where our exhibitors can showcase the most innovative products and emerging technologies.

We are wholly committed to delivering an event that will provide OEMs with the accessibility to showcase their latest aircraft, operators to offer demonstration flights and learn about the trends shaping their industry and technology vendors to present their latest solutions. That is why we continue to choose strategic locations, like Farnborough International and Amsterdam, as we seek industry feedback and allow our exhibitors to take-off and land at the venues.

We’re excited to take the next step in the evolution of the brand in partnership with the British Helicopter Association, a long-standing supporter of the event, and through our continued conversations with new European and global partners to help us better serve the industry.
