Top reasons to attend Helitech International 2018

15 October 2018: Helitech International 2018 will open its doors shortly, when 150 international exhibitors and more than 3,000 visitors descend on the RAI Amsterdam to discover the latest emerging technologies and new advancements from the industry’s leading OEMs and suppliers.

Humanitarian efforts in the Mediterranean, firefighting operations in North America and the proliferation of wind-farm operations provide just a snap-shot of a year in aviation that has helped to demonstrate the essential role of the vertical flight industry.

  1. New UAV focus

For the first time, the 2018 event will have a new focus on UAV technology to highlight the growing synergies within the rotorcraft industry. As one of the most disruptive technologies of the 21st century, unmanned technology and expert insights are expected to garner significant interest at Helitech International 2018 as new technological and regulatory developments are announced.

Visitors at Helitech International 2018 will also learn more about the new shared airspace with guidance on collaborative operations from Khalid Kamhawi, Offshore Wind Consultants’ Lead of Advanced Engineering. Khalid will speak on the second day of the show from 15:30, demonstrating the opportunities to use new UAV solutions in collaboration with traditional rotorcraft.

Outside of commercial opportunities, public services are also benefiting from the rise in unmanned technologies, delegates can learn from Mike Clark, Parapublic and Maritime Market Development Manager at Leonardo Helicopters, as he discusses the contribution of unmanned systems to aid civil power at 0930 on the opening day of the show.

  1. First hand insights to new technologies

Visitors will also benefit from first hand insights into new product innovations in the new Technology Showcase Theatre, which will see informative and engaging sessions from leading innovators. BAE Systems, DART Aerospace, Librestream and Leonardo will all offer their insights to the Technology Showcase Theatre.

On the third and final day, the Technology Showcase Theatre will play host to Helitech’s inaugural Manufacturers Technical Update with insights from Rolls-Royce on the M250 engine family, which recently clocked over 250 million flight hours; along with engaging presentations from Sikorsky on the S-92 and S-76, and LORD Corporation on elastomeric component customer training.

  1. Equipment demonstrations

Visitors will also see the latest technologies and innovations on the busy show floor, where Rogerson Kratos’ Bell 429 and Bell 412 upgraded cockpits will be on display. Highlighting innovation in fusion technology, visitors can visit the team at the show for more insights and expert opinion.

Bucher Leichtbau AG will also be on site to showcase the interior designs helping to transform helicopter models for medical, civil or VIP operations. The Airbus EC145/H145 helicopter emergency medical services (HEMS) equipment from Bucher will be on display, providing a perfect example of how easily the equipment can be retrofit.

  1. New product launches

Cementing the event’s position as a European launchpad for technology innovation, visitors will also be invited to attend a series of new product launches and announcements, hosted by Helitech International’s exhibitors. Attendees on day one are invited to meet with the Kopter team on stand H20 from 10am as they reveal a new customer announcement, while Dart Aerospace will host a networking reception from 15:00 on stand D60.

On day two, Kopter will host another morning session from 10am, with its latest sales updates, while Bell will reveal a series of announcements at 11:30 and 15:00. The Helinetwork International and CanRep teams will also host a cocktail reception, bringing together the biggest players in the aeronautics industry on stand B60.

Speaking about the event days before it opens Teresa Heitor, Event Director for Helitech International, said:

“Emerging technologies, technical insight and engaging content continues to be at the heart of Helitech International and we’re excited to return to Amsterdam. We have worked very hard to put a renewed focus on innovation to ensure the show delivers the right platform for buyers and manufacturers to meet and do business at the show.”
